Welcome to imagine the difference

imagine the difference is a free and easy-to-use resource designed to help teachers of Key Stages 1 and 2 deliver lessons, assemblies and circle time activities about celebrating diversity and difference in a fun, engaging and thought-provoking way.

Written and reviewed by teachers in consultation with Scope, imagine the difference is designed to fit into teaching plans with minimum teacher preparation.

The resource is cross-curricular and contains clear educational links, with a particular focus on PSHE and Citizenship. It supports teaching and learning across the curriculum, particularly in Literacy, Art and Design and Thinking Skills.

The aims of imagine the difference are to:

• raise the profile of people who are different through disability, and to avoid stereotypical attitudes towards them in the future
• provide inspirational and engaging teaching materials through which children can explore the meaning of difference
• help children develop an understanding of the point of view of people who may experience life in a very different way
