Within this role you will have the knowledge to understand and recognise the principles and values that underpin service provision for disabled children, young people and adults with knowledge of cerebral palsy and other disabilities.

You will have an understanding of the Domiciliary Care Standards and Regulations with a sound knowledge of Health and Safety Requirements.
Experience of supervising staff and a good level of experience supporting disabled children and young adults, you will be committed to working within the framework of Scope's core competencies, demonstrating congruence to these in the approach to work.

Ideally you will have an NVQ Level 3 in Care, or equivalent, or commitment to achieve within agreed timescale. You will either be an NVQ Assessor for Level 2 and 3 HSC candidates or be prepared to train to do this.

Ingfield is a day and weekly boarding school for pupils with cerebral palsy, and has recently expanded to include secondary aged pupils. We have a unique place in the development of Conductive Education in this country. We are an ‘Outstanding’ School (Ofsted 2007) and provide ‘Outstanding’ care (Ofsted 2008). Our pupils have a range of abilities and associated learning difficulties arising from cerebral palsy. Volunteer Research Assistant (unpaid role)

Main purpose of the role:
To help prepare for the annual volunteering Census across Scope. This annual Census is very important to monitoring the engagement of volunteers across Scope. Planning is essential to the data collection returns (aim for 100%) and the reported results.

Beneficiaries of the voluntary role:
Volunteering Strategy Unit, all of Scope and other stakeholders such as Trustees and Funders.

Range of tasks to be carried out:
Research planning

Collecting and organising methods of collecting the data and monitoring the returns

Using an online survey tool to manage, distribute the survey (www.surveymonkey.com)

Distributed the survey through the created lists, via email or post (as appropriate)

Monitor returns and follow up non-returns via email or post to reach 100% return rate target.

Usual hours and time frame: Flexible (to be agreed)
It envisaged that the role would be required for one day per week, from now until the end of November.

Skills required:
Knowledge of IT systems including excel, word and mail merge (informal training and support can be provided)

Good communication skills

Able to work within a team and follow direction

An organised approach to managing administrative tasks

Able to maintain confidentiality and operate within the policies and procedures of Scope

An interest in developing research skills, knowledge of volunteering or disability
