Local Groups in Wales

Local groups affiliated to Scope vary in size, activities and the services provided. Some are small with limited funds whilst others are large organisations with paid employees. You can contact any of them through Scope Response.

Blaenau Gwent Care & Share
Self-help group for parents of older disabled children.

CAPS (Children and Parents Support Group
Support group for parents of disabled children of pre-school, infant and junior age. Based in the Rhondda, South Wales.

Colwyn Bay and District Spastics Society
Support group for parents, carers, disabled adults and children.

Communication and Empowerment Cymru
Adult group with an interest in campaigning for disabled people, covers all Wales.

Dragons Disabled Swimming Club
Swimming club for disabled adults and older children, based in Caerphilly.

Friday's Child
Support group for parents of disabled children of all ages. Social group based in Rhondda Cynon Taff.

Link Up
Support group run by and for younger disabled adults, who live in Flintshire and Wrexham.

Longfields Association
Day service for disabled adults at the Longfields Centre in Swansea.

Monmouthshire Disability Advice Project
Advice and information to disabled people, their families and carers on all disability issues including welfare rights, benefits, equipment and training/education.

Scope Ceredigion
Support group for disabled people in Ceredigion.

SNAC (Special Needs Activity Club)
Social activities for disabled children, plus sibling and parent support. The club has its own purpose-built centre with soft play room, multi-sensory room, arts and crafts, music and provide short break holidays for all the family. SNAC is based in Port Talbot, but it supports families throughout South Wales.

SPAN (Support for Parents Action through Networking)
SPAN provides respite holidays in a caravan in Porthmadog as well as practical help and support for families and carers throughout Denbighshire.

Thrive Cardiff (formerly Let’s Play to Grow)
Support group for families, play and activities for children and young people and their siblings.

Voices / Llais
Support group run by young disabled people in Conwy and Denbighshire.
