The Rees Centre
The Rees Centre is named after Trevor and Hilda Rees, who were the founders of the Kenfig Hill local group affiliated to what is now Scope Cymru, and was donated to Scope in 2002.
Scope Cymru then obtained a grant from the Welsh Assembly to upgrade the property to full accessibility and to cover the core costs of the Sharing Art project and a development officer.
Scope's Community Fieldworker is also based at the centre, to support disabled people, their families and carers at times when they are facing difficulties, from problems with benefits to meeting the education needs of a disabled child.
There is also a Learn Direct base at the centre, which is available to the local community, and local people also bring their recycling here for our project at Scope's Sully Skills Development Centre.
The centre has a state-of-the-art kitchen, funded by Lloyds TSB. Some local groups occasionally use the centre for events, and meetings can be held in the smaller meeting room.
