Scope’s celebrity supporters attend BGC Partners Charity Day 2011
12 September 2011
Monday 12 September saw Scope attend one of their biggest fundraising events of the year, as beneficiaries of the 2011 annual BGC Partners Charity Day. The event raises millions for charities around the world and commemorates the 658 BGC staff who lost their lives in the 9/11 attacks in New York.
Celebrity supporters of all benefitting charities are invited to attend and work the BGC trading floor, to help brokers close lots of £million and £billion pound deals – their incentive being that the company’s global profits from the day will all be donated to charities across the world.
Scope was joined by a whole host of famous faces who got on the phones and sealed big money deals throughout the day. These included Scope patrons Cherie Blair and Alastair Stewart OBE, Harry Potter star Warwick Davis, MasterChef host Gregg Wallace, original Bond girl Honor Blackman, The Feeling front man Dan Gillespie Sells and Natasha Hamilton from Atomic Kitten, who was in New York at the time of the 9/11 attacks. Tony Blair and Dolly Parton also sent video messages of support.
Two families supported by Scope Response also spent the day celebrity spotting and enjoying the large funfair-themed reception area, which among other things boasted a petting zoo included a llama and two donkeys!
The Charity Day, which was held simultaneously in the company’s other offices around the world, raised over $12million, which will now be divided between the attending charities to help them continue their good work.
