Years ago, the author William Horwood said at a Scope AGM that disabled people needed to tell their stories so that people could understand what is was like to be disabled in our society.
This was one of the impulses behind collecting life stories of people with cerebral palsy, which you can read about on the Speaking for Ourselves website.
Now, in the age of blogs, there are many more opportunities for disabled people to share their experiences without the need to find a publisher. Which is just as well, as many of the recommended books and novels on living with cerebral palsy are now out-of-print. You can still request them from your local library (before it closes for good!) or order them via the Amazon links provided. (Please note that second-hand prices will vary but many are 1p plus postage.)
