World Wheelchair Fencing Championships - day 2

Wheelchair fencing championships

Day two of competition here in Catania after men's foil and women's épée yesterday.

Today saw a great performance from GB athlete Tom Hall-Butcher in the men's sabre category A competition. Tom, who has cerebral palsy, finished in the top 16 and was the highest ranked British fencer following a great preliminary round and a victory in the last 32 over an athlete from Korea.

The world's best are in Sicily to showcase their talent, skill and determination.

Once again I have been busy writing press releases for the organisers and dealing with protocol issues. In particular I have been utilised as the voice of wheelchair fencing at the games making medal ceremony announcements and commentating on live stream Internet TV!

You can watch video from the championships on YouTube.

Ciao for now!
