Day one at the World Championships in the shadow of Mount Etna, brings the world's best athletes in both Non-Disabled and Wheelchair events.
After an impressive opening ceremony in downtown Catania, the athletes enjoyed a training day and ensured all their equipment passes the stringent safety tests required.
Today sees the Women's Epee and Men's Foil competitions, with a strong entry fro the Great Britain Team hoping to do well.
