As a recipient of Welsh Government funding, Scope Cymru was offered free tickets for the Olympic Women's football games held in Cardiff's magnificent Millennium Stadium.
Adele Gilmour, Senior Statutory and EU Fundraiser for Wales, co-ordinated a request for over 50 free tickets covering three games. The first game, the opening event of the 2012 Olympics, was GB women versus New Zealand women.
Disabled people who use Scope's services, supported by volunteers, went along to Millennium Stadium to cheer Steph Houghton's goal and support Team GB in their first win of the Olympic Games.
Pupils from Craig y Parc school and parents and children who use our Response and Face 2 Face services in Wales also received free tickets.
Sion Williams, Co-ordinator of the Out and About Project in Wales, said after the event, "Without the free tickets from the Welsh Government, many of our volunteers and people who use our services wouldn't have had the opportunity to join in the Olympics. Through the free tickets given out by our funder, people who otherwise would not be able to feel involved were able to go along and we had a chance to thank those that we work with throughout the year by taking them to a once-in-a-lifetime event."
