Every year since 2005, BGC has held an annual Charity Day, on 11 September, in their offices around the world in memory of 658 colleagues who lost their lives in the 2001 World Trade Centre tragedy.

Scores of celebrities supported Scope and other charities at the London event on Friday and toured BGC's trading floor and even got the chance to take part in a "real trade" on the day.

Money raised from BGC’s profits gained on this day will be distributed to Scope and the 25 other charities chosen to take part.

The money raised for Scope will be used to fund its innovative projects with disabled children and young people, enabling them to achieve their life goals and enjoy the same opportunities as their non-disabled peers.

Jason Suckley, Director of Fundraising at Scope, said:

"Scope is delighted to be selected for a second year to be one of the charities which benefits from the BGC Charity Day. The staff at BGC work extremely hard to ensure that everyone involved has an amazing day, and that vital funds are raised for their chosen charities, including Scope."

The London event held last year was supported by over 120 guests on the trading floor including HRH The Prince of Wales, Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, movie stars Kevin Spacey, Joseph Fiennes and Rosamunde Pike, and Olympic gold medallists Ben Ainslie, James DeGale and Rebecca Romero. Scope's celebrity supporters in 2008 included Cilla Black and comedian Ben Elton.

Similar events were held on Friday at BGC's offices worldwide, including those in New York, Singapore, Paris and Hong Kong.
