Inspirations Dinner 2012 with Michael Portillo

The Rt Hon Michael Portillo, Lord Archer and ITN news anchor and Scope Patron Alastair Stewart OBE turned out in force to help Scope raise over £100,000 at the annual Inspirations Dinner.

Over 300 guests attended the event at the Marriott Grosvenor Square Hotel, London. Auctioneer Lord Archer persuaded people to part with their hard-earned cash to bid for a number of money can’t buy prizes including VIP tickets to watch Manchester United from the Directors Box, a tour of the ITN studios with Alastair Stewart and the opportunity to open trading on the London Stock Exchange.

The Rt Hon Michael Portillo took to the stage for a conversation with Alastair Stewart where he shared a number of anecdotes about his life and career. He then took questions from guests.

Anne Barnes, a mother of two disabled children, delivered the keynote speech. She spoke about Scope’s Face 2 Face scheme, which offers a befriending service  for parents with a disabled child. She said: “Some of the best advice I’ve ever had comes from parents.”
