Safestore Dash to Donate challenge, 7-13 May 2012

Get Your House in Order's Abigail Ahern

3 May 2012

Channel 4 interior designer Abigail Ahern and Scope corporate partner Safestore are asking people to drop off quality clothes, books, toys and household goods at their local Safestore for a week-long ‘Dash to Donate’ challenge to collect as much stock as possible for the charity.

It is the second year that Safestore, the UK’s largest self storage company, has partnered Scope for the community initiative. Donations are being accepted at all 98 Safestore branches from Monday 7 May to Sunday 13 May 2012.

Members of the public can pick up donation bags and drop off any items at their local Safestore or Scope branch. Safestore branches will also be competing with each other to see which of its 98 outlets can fill the largest amount of storage space with donated stock.

The items will then be sold by Scope in its network of almost 250 charity shops located across the country raising vital funds to support its work with disabled people.

Donated items can be taken to any Safestore branch during the appeal week and are always welcome at Scope shops. Visit www.safestore.co.uk or www.scope.org.uk/shops to find your closest Safestore or Scope branches.

Abigail Ahern, interior designer and presenter of Channel 4's decluttering series, Get Your House In Order, said, "Spring is a perfect time to de-clutter your home and help support Scope’s vital work with disabled people by donating any unwanted items you find. Scope’s charity shops rely on donations so dig deep when you’re clearing out, you’ll be amazed at how many things you find that you no longer need.”
