Play with a Purpose

Created by RNIB Cymru and Scope, our activity cards support early play and development for children with sensory and physical support needs.

Each card has a simple activity and ideas for extending play, learning and development. They can be used with an individual child, within a group or including more able children.

The everyday activities are designed for parents and practitioners to use in observation assessments. But, most importantly, they are for play - for relaxing and having fun together.

The activity cards guide in exploring sensory experiences through textures, mirrors, sounds, familiar or novelty objects.

There’s loads of opportunities for talking together, problem-solving, reasoning, guesswork and anticipation.

The specially designed activities for children with sensory and physical support needs allow for a wide range of choices to be made. They offer different positions that can be adopted, different forms of language, and give advice on how or when to make notes on your child’s progress.
