Scope’s Sporting Inspirations Dinner 2010
10 November 2010
For the second year running, Scope’s biggest fundraiser of the year, our Sporting Inspirations annual dinner was held at The London Marriott, Grosvenor Square.
This year, in celebration of the summer’s World Cup and the forthcoming 2018 World Cup draw, the Sporting Inspirations dinner had a football theme. The evening included an exclusive “in conversation with” session hosted by Manish Bhasin from The Football League Show on BBC One. He interviewed our VIP panel, which consisted of Leeds legend Jack Charlton OBE, England Under-21’s manager Stuart Pearce MBE, player-turned-pundit Steve Claridge and referee Graham Poll talked about their career highlights and hopes for the future.
The evening was hosted by Scope patron Alastair Stewart OBE who started the evening with an exciting game of Heads and Tails. Fellow Scope patrons Cherie Booth and Ade Adepitan MBE also attended, joined by Paralympic swimming golden couple Sascha and Nyree Kindred, together with top Swindon Town striker Charlie Austin and his partner Bianca Parker.
The event was organised by Scope’s alongside our Business Development Board, chaired by Isabel Hudson. The auction and silent auction raised a total of £51,250 with 46 lots including a tour of the ITV News Studios, Take That concert tickets, Vivienne Westwood jewellery and a Manchester United VIP package.
The dinner was a huge success and raised over £91,000 for Scope’s Grangewood appeal, which aims to create fully accessible living options for disabled adults and young people at some of our services.
