English at P level 4

  • To imitate 10-50 single words signs or phrases, or use a repertoire of objects of reference or symbols, for example to communicate likes/dislikes.
  • To demonstrate an understanding of at least 50 words, including names of familiar objects. To respond to simple requests.
  • To listen and respond to familiar rhymes and stories. To show some understanding of how books work, for example, turning pages, holding it the right way up.
  • To demonstrate awareness that marks and symbols convey meaning. To make marks or symbols in preferred mode of communication.
