Agnes Fletcher

Chair of the Assembly and Chair of Development Committee

Agnes Fletcher is a disabled person who has worked for disability equality for over 20 years.

She has been an advisor to the government and a director at the Disability Rights Commission. She previously worked for Radar (now Disability Rights UK) and Disability Awareness in Action.

Agnes is now a consultant, working on promoting all forms of equality within public and third sector organisations. Recent clients include the Equality and Human Rights Commission, the British Council, Central Bedfordshire Council and Real, the disabled people’s organisation in Tower Hamlets.

With significant senior executive and non-executive experience, Agnes has been vice-chair of Disability Rights UK and a Trustee at Shape. She is currently a Trustee of POhWER. Agnes was a member of the Disability Employment Advisory Committee and an external member of the Disability Equality Delivery Board within government.

Agnes is married to another disabled person and has a daughter. She brings an awareness of the impact of disability on families; knowledge of disability policy and campaigning; plus a drive to promote the benefits of equality and diversity for everyone.
