Scope responds to new social care spending statistics

Disability charity Scope comments on new figures from the Health and Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC) showing council spending on adult social care.

Elliot Dunster, Head of Policy, Research and Public Affairs at disability charity Scope:
“These new figures further illustrate the intense strain the social care system is under.

We’ve seen a year-on-year rationing of this vital support.

Chronic underfunding of social care is stopping disabled people from being able to get up, get dressed and get out of the house. Without this support it’s difficult for disabled people to live independently.

The Government must prioritise sustainable social care funding in the upcoming Comprehensive Spending Review.”
