Physical care at Craig y Parc

With just 56 pupils at the school, Craig y Parc has, arguably, one of the best resourced physical therapy teams in the UK. It also provides 24-hour on-site nursing care. The team oversees all the student’s positioning needs including chairs, wheelchairs, standing frames, sleep systems, braces, splints and so on. Clinics and fittings are held on site, which allows the whole team to have an in-depth knowledge of each student’s development and the equipment they use.

With so much expertise on site, there are regular training sessions for class teachers, support and residential staff, so that therapy and positioning equipment can be used at any time during the school day or out of school hours.

Communication and technology

Whether exercising essential muscles for speech, teaching sign language or programming electronic communication / mobility equipment, Craig y Parc specialises in giving students access to the complex range of communication aids and technology needed to allow them to express themselves and maintain independence.
