Who is Meldreth Manor children's home for?

Our registered children's home gives full-time, term-time and weekly accommodation for disabled children with physical, profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD), life-limiting conditions and high medical needs, also known as special needs.

Most children and young people who live in our children's home attend Meldreth Manor School, but we also give long- and short-term residential places to those who may not need schooling.

Our staff

We provide 24-hour nursing cover and our staff are trained in delegated health care tasks such as use of gastric and jejunostomy tubes, and giving oxygen and suction.

Staff from the children's home and trained classroom staff support students during the school day. Care and education staff communicate about children's needs formally through a daily meeting, as well as informally.

Our accommodation

Up to 10 children and young people live in each of our purpose-built flats, next to the school's large grounds where they can take part in outdoor activities such as biking, using walking frames and Learning Curves sensory-based activities.

Children and young people staying at Meldreth Manor Children's Home can use all school facilities at evenings and weekends.

Meals

We prepare all food freshly on site. We encourage children and young people to choose from a wide menu of healthy food. We also cater for special and cultural diets.

Getting out and about

Our children and young people regularly get involved in the local community. We also support religious observances with regular commitments to attend places of worship.

We have a number of adapted vehicles for day trips, visits and attending outpatient appointments.
