Our facilities for disabled people
Birchwood is a modern 15-bed, purpose-designed bungalow-style care home for disabled people in a semi-rural location in Chesham, Buckinghamshire.
We currently have two ensuite vacancies for residential placements.
People living at Birchwood can live independently, with a choice of food and activities. Clients can attend classes in the community if they wish and we run a day centre twice a week.

We have organised activities and very friendly staff. Residents participate in the running of the service through a resident consultation forum, which is attended by all clients and chaired by an independent volunteer.
Changes at Birchwood
We have recently reviewed all our residential care homes and in September 2013 our Board of Trustees made a proposal to change Birchwood in 2015.
We talked about the proposals with everyone who is directly affected within two weeks of making them and now we are just starting to plan next steps. We want to listen to everyone who lives and works at Birchwood before making a decision on its future. We are planning to make a decision in mid-late 2015.
We are fully committed to supporting each person involved by offering independent advocacy and working with their local authority social worker to find out what kind of support they would like in future.
