Birmingham Face 2 Face Scheme
Face 2 Face offers a one-to-one befriending service for parents discovering their child is disabled.
Referrals to the Face 2 Face service in Birmingham can be made by parents or local professionals (with the parent's consent). If you would like more information or are interested in becoming a befriender, please contact the scheme co-ordinator.
This service is also offering a bilingual telephone helpline manned by three trained parent befrienders who speak, between them, four languages:
- Urdu: 07796 133 230
- Punjabi: 07796 133 157
- Hindi: 07833 014 094
Mirpuri speakers may phone any of the above numbers.
The befriender will take details and the scheme co-ordinator will then arrange for a parent to be contacted by a bilingual worker from a relevant voluntary or statutory organisation that meet their needs. The caller may also want to refer themselves to the Face 2 Face befriending service, in this instance they will be matched with one of the scheme's many bilingual befrienders.
