Healthy cooking
We have a range of healthy cooking classes to develop skills in how to cook, to experience a variety of new foods and ingredients, and a better understanding of healthy diets.
Exercise and sports
Our centre has become recognised for its sports activities which include wheelchair keep fit, boccia, new age kurling, skittles, target throwing, using sports equipment designed for disabled athletes. These activities develop and improve physical movement and co-ordination for those in wheelchairs and others with poor physical ability, keeping them in shape.
Community access for daily living
We support disabled people to access the community, in order to do everyday things, such as shopping, paying bills and accessing the local library. We also have local studies classes and outings to places of interest, such as nature reserves and museums.
Independent living skills course
This course is designed for young, disabled people (16-25) who are leaving school or college, promoting independence through personal and social well-being as a transition to adulthood. Students on this course can learn to manage:
- Household skills
- Money
- Health, diet and cooking skills
- Leisure time activities
Adult education classes
We support disabled people to access adult community education classes, which include pottery, gardening, music and singing, nature studies, drama, media and others.
Creative skills classes
People can take part in needlecraft, pottery, craft and photography classes. These suit those who prefer more creative skills, helping them to understand colour, shape, texture and making techniques.
IT access
The service is home to the Karten CTEC Centre, a computer suite, enabling disabled people to access assistive technologies, digital cameras, printers and the internet.
Holiday activities
During the college holidays, there is a broad range of stimulating and fun activities including visits to historical buildings, museums, Cardiff Bay and St Mellons Agricultural Show, Bristol Zoo. Trips to the cinema, sports activities, barbecues, lunch club, Halloween and Christmas parties are also highlights in our calendar.
