Right From The Start training
This national project has influenced government and professional practice in the sharing news of with parents of disabled children. The project has developed in partnership with parents, other voluntary organisations, disabled people and professionals working in health and social care.
Its template and principles are integral features of Together From the Start and The National Service Framework.
Training resources have been developed to support professional practice and include:
- A Right From The Start training module involving parents and disabled people as learning partners
- Delivery of training for Right From The Start trainers
- A training package to support the introduction of policies and procedures as a framework for good practice
- Presentations delivered to professionals across the country in sharing good practice at the time of disclosure of a child’s additional needs
- Right From The Start audit template to measure parents' views on how they have been treated and to seek staff opinions and any highlight training needs
