Good Neighbours House
View Care Quality Commission report
Good Neighbours House is a care home, close to the centre of Camberwell, which provides care and accommodation for up to 16 physically disabled adults.
Over the past year we’ve been talking to customers at Good Neighbours House about how we can support them to have more choices and control over their lives. Many of them have said they would like to live in other places, like their own flat or supported accommodation. We also know that times have changed since customers started living at Good Neighbours House many years ago and the environment isn’t as modern as other services offer.
This is reflected in the number of people who choose to live there today – only eight out of a possible 16 people live there. This means we’re also losing money by continuing to run it.
We have made the difficult decision to close Good Neighbours House by October 2013.
We know these changes will be difficult. We want to reassure everyone that we will work with residents, their families and advocates and local authorities so they understand the options they have and can find a more modern place to live that will enhance their quality of life.
