The Rees Centre

The Rees Centre is named after Trevor and Hilda Rees, who were the founders of the Kenfig Hill local group affiliated to what is now Scope Cymru. The group raised the funds to build the centre in 1964 and delivered a day service at the centre for children with cerebral palsy for over 30 years. The group decided to donate the building to Scope in 2002 as they felt that Scope would be best placed to maximise its potential.

Trevor Rees was Chair of Scope in Wales in the 1970s and sadly died in 2008 aged 88. His widow, Hilda, lives in Porthcawl and continues to support Scope’s work at the centre.

The Rees Centre is host to Sharing Art Project, Community Choices and Face 2 Face Bridgend as well as being a fully accessible venue for meetings and events. The centre is in the heart of the local community of Kenfig Hill in the county of Bridgend. It hosts a permanent and changing display of artwork produced by the members and volunteers of Sharing Art and has a pleasant and sunny courtyard garden in which people can take a break and relax.
