Scope Aspire Services Calderdale

Runner-up: 'care innovator' and 'best newcomer' at Yorkshire and Humberside finals of the Great British Care Awards.

Scope Aspire Services Calderdale is a community-based service, providing activities and support for disabled children and adults to achieve and play an active part in community life.

Our fully adapted building in the centre of Halifax provides community-based services developed by and for disabled people living in Calderdale. We also have a large garden with raised beds and an allotment. These areas are enjoyed and put to good use, producing fresh vegetables used in our cookery sessions.

Our flexible approach enables us to work with people as individuals, offering them relevant and enjoyable programmes that take account of their changing needs. We encourage people to build on their individual ability.

Activities include

  • Cooking
  • IT skills and digital photography
  • Gardening
  • Arts and crafts
  • Community links with local colleges and leisure centres
  • Swimming, bowling and visits to the cinema
  • Holistic therapies
  • Volunteer and work placements
  • Social group
