Scope in Waltham Forest

From our purpose-built, accessible centre in Russell Road, Scope in Waltham Forest works closely with other providers and trained volunteers.

We give high-quality, tailored support to disabled children, young people and adults with a wide range of physical and learning impairments.

Staff vacancies: Support workers and also Saturday Support Workers.

Personal care

Sometimes called domiciliary care, we provide care in your home. Whether for a few hours, a day or an evening, we can support you with washing and bathing, dressing, eating, travel to and from school or college, preparing meals or household chores.

Short breaks for families and carers

Sometimes known as respite care, for two to four hours, families and carers can take a break while we provide personal care, a sitting service or support activities.

Day opportunities for adults

We offer groups of disabled adults the opportunity to learn new skills and meet people in their area. You can also enjoy a full range of indoor and outdoor leisure and social activities individually, such as:

  • arts and crafts
  • information technology (IT) in our full accessible IT suite
  • sports and fitness
  • accessing a college or training course
  • other special activities or opportunities as requested

Weekend activities for children

We run a Saturday club from our centre for children aged 12 to 18 to learn new skills, do something they enjoy or make new friends. We have indoor and outdoor leisure and social activities such as:

  • arts and crafts
  • computer club
  • visits to local attractions
  • sports and fitness

Befriending for young people

Our one-to-one befriending service for young people aged 14 to 18 gives support in the local community or at home. This might be to access activities, to go to the shops, meet friends or simple talk with someone.

Sleep solutions

We hold regular free workshops at our centre on better managing children's sleep problems and sleep patterns. If your child has a developmental delay, you may find it helpful to meet other parents or talk to your care manager or social worker for advice and information on sleep.

Our staff

Our friendly and dedicated staff team are trained to work with disabled adults and children with complex needs.

We're flexible and develop activities and programmes to meet your goals, wishes and needs.
