Who develops Scope's website?
The website is managed by Scope's Marketing team and website editor. It is developed with support from our friends at www.rechord.com and www.forlinux.co.uk
Why is the font the size it is?
This was a design decision based on a decision to improve the look and feel of the site.
Users have various options to change the font properties of the site themselves - please read the section on how Betsie works and how you can modify the font-sizes and properties. Users can also increase the font via their browser:
PC
Netscape Navigator: Go to View in your browser and select Increase Font from the drop down menu.
Internet Explorer: Go to View in your browser, then click Text Size and select the size you require from the drop down list.
Mac
Internet Explorer and Netscape v.7: Go to the View menu and select Text Zoom (on Internet Explorer v.4 this option is called Text Size). You can increase or decrease your font size by clicking on 'Larger' and 'Smaller' or by using the percentage range given.
Netscape v.4: Go to the Edit menu. Select Preferences, then Appearance then Fonts. Here you can use the drop-down menus to set your font size.
Why does the site look different in browser X?
The site is designed to be viewable by all major browsers. The site is optimised in accordance to the most popular setup of users (IE 5.X, 6.X on a PC), and is designed to render in various other operating systems and browsers.
Older, version 4 browsers are encouraged to upgrade. Older browsers weren't built to support CSS, and only recent versions of the major browsers support CSS adequately enough to avoid unpredictable layout problems. To get around this challenge, CSS can be effectively hidden from browsers incapable of displaying the content properly. The fine details of the new Scope design are only visible in newer standards-compliant browsers.
We encourage you to visit the Wired Design Notes and the Browser Upgrade Campaign page from the Web Standards Project to learn how and why you should upgrade your browser. Doing so will improve your web experience, enabling you to use this site and view other sites as their creators intended. including CSS, XHTML, and the DOM (a universal means of controlling the behaviour of web pages).
What screen resolution is the site optimised for?
800*600 - this was a design criteria to render the site correctly in many of Scope's offices. The site is also designed to render well at higher resolutions.
How accessible is the new Scope website?
In the main the new website is designed to be very accessible.
Scope is continually working to improve its website accessibility.
There are currently a few relatively minor exceptions to this. In these cases this is due to inherited legacy content and code that cannot easily be redeveloped.
