January 2004 : New servers
Website ported to new server on 12.01.04. Benefits include:
- Faster browsing for users : page download times massively improved (up to 100% speed reduction). This is an additional increase to the already substantial reduction in download times achieved upon the launch of the rebuilt website (11.8.03).
- Improved site stability
- Updated to latest fully supported version OS
- Processor power of server doubled
- Improved capacity for future development (medium to long-term) and user functionality
August 2003 : Website relaunched
Following a consultative process with site users, the Scope website was rebuilt and relaunched in Autumn 2003. Many of the new features are documented below:
- dramatically improved accessibility functionality including:
- new text-only browser settings
- relative links (in supported browsers)
- access keys
- reduced download times for users
- new improved navigation focusing upon Scope's priority areas
- redesigned look and feel enhances presentation of content
- improved information architecture
- more secure and stable codebase for future development
- W3C HTML4 and CSS validated templates
- fixed poor accessibility of the old site (poor front page colours, home page rollovers and dhtml navigation menus impractical for non-mouse users, and no accesskeys)
1995 : Website launched
Scope's website was one of the first to be set up. Since then there have been many revisions and accessibility improvements.
