About Meldreth Manor School

Meldreth Manor is a special school and children's home for disabled children and young people aged 6–19 years.
We work with students who have special educational needs (SEN) resulting from profound or multiple learning difficulties (PMLD).
Many of our students have cerebral palsy and resulting visual impairments or other sensory loss. Some students have additional health needs such as those associated with epilepsy.
We can cater for disabled children and young people as residential or day students.
An inspection by Ofsted in September 2013 graded Meldreth Manor School 'outstanding' in all areas.

Our multi-sensory curriculum is based on a holistic approach, integrating therapies with education. We make our school lessons and activities motivating, relevant and fun! We aim to give each child the best possible skills to have an independent life, through effective communication, choices and decision-making.
Our team of full-time therapists are based in the school. We have a Speech and Language Therapist (SaLT) and full-time SaLT technician, a Physiotherapist and an Occupational Therapist. We have trained physiotherapy assistants working with the Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist, and in class, to carry out students' individual physical management programmes.
We also provide music therapy, hydrotherapy, rebound therapy and horse riding.
The site is extensive and accessible. The buildings are purpose-built and also fully accessible.
We also offer residential accommodation – a registered children's home open 52 weeks of the year. It is on the same site as the school and offers a variety of options for accommodation, from full-time to term-time to weekly boarding. Most children in the children's home attend Meldreth Manor School, but it is not mandatory. We also offer respite care and short breaks.

The quality of teaching is outstanding overall and never less than good... A major strength of the teaching is in the focus, in all lessons, on the individual learning targets of each student, derived from their statements of special educational needs and individual education plans.
