How a grant of £5,000 can make a difference...
Thanks to a £5,000 donation from the Montague Thompson Coon Charitable Trust we were able to purchase a Powerbox computer and specialist communication software for our school at Ingfield Manor.
The Powerbox computer uses symbols and text to enable communication. It can be activated by touch screen, switches, keyboard or head pointer, making it accessible and easy to use, as David has found.
David is eight years old. His cerebral palsy makes verbal communication and mobility very difficult for him.
The Powerbox is helping David to communicate with his family, friends and teachers. It is also helping him to learn. Over the last four months his reading skills have improved considerably. He is now able to read independently and is growing in confidence. He is also learning to construct sentences and write stories.
With the help of The Montague Thompson Coon Charitable Trust donation we have been able to provide a direct benefit for people like David and his peers.
