IVP Training

Service users at Flightways centre find out more about volunteering

Inclusive Volunteering Training looks at:

  • Defining disability and disablism
  • Benefits of being inclusive
  • Barriers to volunteering
  • Engaging disabled volunteers - myths, legends and practicalities
  • Appealing to disabled people as volunteers
  • At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • define disability and understand the "models of disability"
  • identify the benefits for organisations including disabled volunteers
  • explore the barriers (physical, attitudinal or emotional) to volunteering faced by both disabled people and organisations
  • identify areas to think about when encouraging disabled volunteers
  • explain the principles of Co-Production

    The Inclusive Volunteering Companion

This is a resource that is immediately useable and contains templates, guidance and examples for volunteer managers looking to increase the inclusivity of their programmes. Divided into different parts to reflect the themes of our Inclusive Volunteering Training, the Companion includes activities, resources and discussion points for you and your colleagues, both staff and volunteers. Scope can also offer advice for organisations on reasonable adjustments through the Access to Volunteering Fund.
