Key support from the Government acknowledges the particular value of the cultural and creative industries within the UK economy. It is targeted to strengthen the impact of these sectors through investing in its leadership now and for the future. The Cultural Leadership Programme has two overarching aims, which seeks to embed a culture of support and development for leaders in the sector.
To deliver these aims the Cultural Leadership Programme targets three areas of leadership development. These are current leaders, future and emerging leaders, and boards and trustees as cultural leaders.
The programme supports the development of existing cultural leaders, ensuring they have the skills to achieve maximum impact for themselves and their organisations. The programme supports the needs of senior leaders and provides opportunities for mid-career leaders, supporting them in gaining the skills and aptitudes to progress in their careers and in widening their range of options to contribute as leaders in the cultural sector. The programme also promotes the development of future leaders so that they can augment existing creative ability with business and entrepreneurial skills.
The Cultural Leadership Programme prioritises activities designed to strengthen the diversity of leaders across the creative and cultural sectors.
The Cultural Leadership Programme is working with Cusp inc and ADA inc to develop a new disability leadership programme - Sync. Sync is an exploration of leadership and disability within the cultural and creative sectors. The underlying principles for the programme are accessibility and inclusion.
The Cultural Leadership Programme is a new addition to the Diversity Works Board.
