The Campaign Group at Chester Skills Development Centre

The Campaign Group began as a spin-off from the Link Up Club when problems with access were identified at venues that the club used for activities.

The group meets regularly at Chester Skills Development Centre and is part of the centre's day service programme. Members offer an accessibility assessment service based on the criteria set out on the Disability Discrimination Act to local businesses.

The group has mounted successful campaigns on:

  • Disabled parking problems at local cinemas and supermarkets
  • Accessibility to local restaurants
  • Problems with checkouts and lifts in local stores
  • Design of bathroom and shower facilities at leisure venues
  • Local traffic and pedestrian crossing problems

    • The Campaign Group is very interested in hearing from anyone who wishes to contribute to or support any of their work. They would like to join forces with other individuals and groups in support of disability rights and awareness, to exchange information and network campaigns more effectively.
