This service

Everyone needs some time off once in a while. When disabled children and young people take a short break (also known as respite) with us they can try new things, socialise and make friends. Meanwhile, parents can take a little time off from providing care.

Our residential short break homes are fully accessible, well-equipped and provide a range of activities suitable for children and young people. They will socialise with other young people and enjoy trips outdoors.

Is it for you?

Our short breaks are for children and young people up to 18 with any impairment, sometimes known as special needs. These include dysphagia, epilepsy, mental health needs, cerebral palsy, autism, physical impairments and learning difficulties.

Getting started

We will talk with you and your child to find out what’s important and how they need to be supported. And together, we’ll develop a support plan around what you want to do, focusing on what you’d like to achieve from the short break.

Your support staff

We’ll find support staff who the disabled individual likes and you’ll get on with.

Supporting families with disabled children for the past 60 years, we know how much selecting great staff matters. Our thorough training ensures safe, quality care.

Families can pay for short breaks using direct payments, personal budgets, private income or through the local authority.

Book us for an overnight, weekend stay or a longer break – we’re very flexible.
