Downloading OBS

1. Download OBS (Open Broadcasting System)

It’s free and open-source software for video recording and live streaming.

2. Install the software

Select your operating system and follow the steps to install the software.

3. Find your 'Stream key'

OBS will ask for your ‘Stream key’. This is so OBS can connect to your streaming account.

Finding your Twitch Stream Key

  1. Open your Twitch account and log in
  2. Select your avatar on the top right-hand corner of the homepage
  3. Select ‘Creator Dashboard’
  4. In the left-hand menu, select ‘Stream’ under the setting header
  5. Your Stream Key will now appear
  6. Select ‘Copy’ and paste your Stream Key back into OBS

Finding your YouTube Stream Key

  1. Open your YouTube account and log in
  2. Select the camera icon on the top right-hand corner of the homepage
  3. Select ‘Go live’ from the drop down
  4. You’re now in YouTube Studio
  5. Select ‘Right now’
  6. This will open a page with your streaming settings. On the left had side, you should see a field for ‘Stream Key’
  7. Select ‘Copy’ and paste your Stream Key back into OBS

4. Enter your Stream key

Once you enter your Stream Key from either Twitch or YouTube, you will be presented with your streaming screen template.
