Statutory partnerships

We have extensive experience managing large projects funded by government departments, the Big Lottery Fund and other statutory donors across England and Wales.

Friendly AdvantAGE Project: reducing the isolation of older disabled adults

Scope Cymru deliver the Disability Inclusion element of the Friendly AdvantAGE project for the Vale Centre for Voluntary Services (VCVS).

The project enables people of all ages to be recruited, trained and supported to become volunteer befrienders for older disabled people (aged 50+).

Since the project started we have received 31 referrals from a range of agencies supporting disabled people in Cardiff and the Vale.  Of these 26 received befriending support from 13 volunteer befrienders.

Befrienders support disabled adults to take part in a range of activities in their own community which can lead to meeting new people, gaining confidence and reducing their isolation. Some activities take place through small group work, including a gardening club which has been very successful.

For more information, please visit the Vale Centre's website or contact the Scope AdvantAGE Co-ordinator, Maggy Marques on 07530 08557.

Made to Measure: a new approach to supporting disabled children

The Department for Education is funding Made to Measure, a two year pilot project located in Plymouth and Trafford.

The project is working with parents of disabled children, the Local Authorities and short breaks providers to trial a new approach to the provision of services for disabled children.

Made to Measure offers parents of disabled children the opportunity to share information and jointly commission activities for their children by pooling personal budgets.

The project is working alongside parents to develop relationships between parents with similar interests and needs and to support these parents to pool their personal budgets in order to directly commission the services they would like to use.
