Volunteer roles

Join our community of volunteers to help us achieve equality and fairness for disabled people. From shop assistant to online community champion or employment service volunteer, there are loads of ways you can volunteer your time and skills with us.

Shop volunteers

We are always looking for volunteers to help out in our charity shops.

Volunteering in our shops is a great way to meet new people and become part of your local community. You can volunteer for a morning or a few days a week, it’s up to you! Help collect and sort goods, serve customers, create eye catching displays and more. It is also a great way to boost your CV.

All this, while having fun in a friendly, supportive environment.

We are always looking for volunteers to help in our charity shops throughout the year.

I’ve learnt a lot – cashing up has really helped me with my maths, going on to the laptop really brought me out more on using technology, which I was a bit frightened of.”

Online Community volunteering

As an online community volunteer, you will help welcome forum members and provide support. Using your own lived experience of disability, you will help disabled people and their families to get the support and information they need.

Our online disability forum is a vibrant and supportive space for disabled people, parents and carers. Enabling them to talk to people with similar experiences and get disability advice.

Supporting disabled people into work

Do you want to help disabled people to live the life they choose and be financially secure? As an Employment Services Support Volunteer, you’ll be doing exactly that, supporting disabled people looking for work to find the right job for them. You will support with CVs, application forms and interview skills.

About Scope's Employment Services for disabled people

I have helped disabled people to find and keep work. You get a chance to help disabled people grow in confidence, assertiveness and independence.

Support events and fundraising

Could you be the loudest, proudest cheerer on the course?

Your cheers and enthusiasm at challenge events like the London Marathon will keep people going to the finish line. Have fun, soak up the atmosphere and make a real difference. Plus, you will get some of the best viewing spots on the course!

I gave out a lot of energy, but really got a lot back. We could see straight away that we were really helping, as the runners smiled back and gave us a high-five.

Khrystyna, event day volunteer

Not up for cheering? You can help make one of our fundraising events like Joke for Scope a real success. You could welcome guests and gain experience of managing an event.

Or maybe you’re a budding photographer or video maker and want to practise your skills? However you help us, events are a great way to volunteer on a one-off basis.

Support us in our office teams

Want to experience working as part of a team in our office? As you help us, we will help you develop your skills and gain great experience for your CV. All while working in an area that excites you. Support our fundraising events, involve yourself with our influencing work or help with some vital admin.

Not able to make the commute? We are flexible. You can help out from home in a way that works for you.

Volunteering was the platform for me to develop the skills to get to where I am now.

Anne, communications and content volunteer
