Job description

To be responsible for the emptying and light maintenance of our textile banks, efficient moving of stock, clothing, household items and furniture between our textile banks, customers and shops. This will entail the collection of donated goods, including items of furniture and storing and delivering them to shops or loading bay areas, within a designated area. Also assist in providing a delivery service of furniture to customer households. The role is very hands on with an essential requirement of manual handling.

 

Key accountabilities and responsibilities

  • Collect stock from textile and book banks, haulier stock and deliver to shops/depots. 
  • Transport furniture to and/ or from customer premises (certain areas only).Provide an efficient collection service for house to house calls, collecting donations and empty collection bags. 
  • Collaborate with head office Logistics team to solve ad hoc customer queries and requests. Transfer stock between shops as agreed with the Area Manager and Scope’s Logistics team. 
  • Be accountable for securing allocated vehicle and its contents at all times. 
  • Collaborate with Scope’s Logistics team and lease company to make arrangements for the routine maintenance and repairs to allocated vehicle. 
  • Be responsible for the security of the fuel loyalty card.
  • Complete accurately all relevant paperwork to agreed deadlines and procedures. 
  • Comply with Scope guidelines and procedures, particularly in relation to security and health and safety regulations.
  • Inform the Line Manager or other appropriate manager of any suspected breach of security or noncompliance in respect of policies and procedures.

 

Person specification

Knowledge and experience

Essential

  • Must have a full, clean UK driving licence for over 1 year and be over 21 years of age
  • Ability to maintain and report accurate records, e.g., of mileage and timesheets

Desirable

  • Personal direct experience and /or knowledge of disability and disability issues

 

Skills and competences

  • Able to communicate with the general public and wider community whilst representing Scope
  • Ability to manage workload within schedule rota, including responding to communication from Scopes head office in a timely manner
  • Ability to collaborate and work in a team
  • Ability to work on your own initiative
  • A good level of physical fitness
  • An understanding of health and safety regulations
  • Good interpersonal skills; the ability to communicate professionally with a range of stakeholders, including shop colleagues and volunteers, head office and members of the public.
  • Ability to be flexible and support other areas and drivers when required
  • Willing to undertake relevant training
  • Able to lift heavy and/or bulky items and to use lifting equipment in the correct manner
  • Able and willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Prepared to travel extensively throughout the area
  • Ability to work weekends and bank holidays when needed
