Job description
Role purpose:
The Evaluation Officer will support:
- The collection and analysis of Monitoring and Evaluation evidence to evaluate our Services and Campaigns
- Providing evidence to demonstrate Scope’s impact against our strategic goals
- Improving or developing impact measures and theories of change
- Creating internal and external reports evidencing the impact Scope has for disabled people and parents of disabled children
- Ensuring that disabled people are shaping Scope’s work
Main responsibilities and accountabilities:
- Support the collection and analysis of qualitative and quantitative evaluation data for services and campaigns
- Arrange, conduct and support evaluation activities (such as interviews and focus groups with Scope service customers and staff)
- Arrange, code and thematically analyse qualitative evidence collected
- Research and apply creative and accessible evaluation methods to facilitate best engagement and participation with Scope’s evaluation work
- Support the development and implementation of co-produced evaluation
- Work alongside peer-researchers and peer-reviewers with lived experience of disability
- Support the dissemination of evaluation reports, findings and recommendations with key stakeholders and research participants
- Support the development of consistent evaluation practices across Scope services
- Support with arranging and conducting workshops and presentations by the team internally at Scope, and externally to other interested parties and professional networks
- Support the Strategy and Impact Manager in researching and developing Scope’s theories of change and proof of societal impact
- Where appropriate, supply relevant data to be used in quarterly corporate reporting to the executive leadership team and board
- Use evaluation results to identify key areas for further research, and liaise with other wider team members to develop these further
- Keep up to date with latest thinking on evaluation and impact measurement

Person specification
Qualifications
- Social Research Degree or equivalent, relevant and transferrable skills and experience
Knowledge and experience
Essential
- Demonstrable experience and understanding of evaluation methods to collect and analyse evidence from people who use charitable services.
- Experience of conducting interviews and focus groups
- A good understanding of organisational theories of change and the processes and methodologies that underpin Monitoring and Evaluation.
- Experience reporting and presenting results of Monitoring and Evaluation to internal and external stakeholders
Desirable
- Experience of using Dedoose or other qualitative data analysis tools
- Degree or qualification including or related to social research methods
- Lived experience of disability
- Demonstrable understanding of the social model of disability
- Understanding of the principles of co-production in action
- Experience of co-production in research and evaluation
Skills and competencies
Essential
- Confidence and experience of meaningfully engaging with people in interviews or focus groups
- Good analytical skills
- Ability to write compelling reports
