Job description

The Head of HR will be responsible for delivering an efficient and effective ‘best in class’ function which supports its customers and delivers an outstanding customer experience at every touch point. In addition, the Head of HR will be focused on continuous improvement and continually looking forward and out to be agile, pioneering and proactive.

 

Main responsibilities

  • Supporting the Executive Director, People in the implementation of Scope’s People Strategy
  • Leadership and line management of the HR team
  • Coaching, developing and supporting the HR team, setting standards, managing performance and developing skills – ‘future proofing’ the function to help Scope deliver its strategic goals
  • Providing a best in class employee experience at every touchpoint
  • Developing a ‘best in class’ customer focused function with outstanding stakeholder management; advising, counselling and coaching colleagues to implement their people plans
  • Provide HR business partnering support and ensure that it complements and supports the business and strategic objectives of Scope
  • Build strong internal (and external) networks to ensure the delivery of a consistently high quality and innovative service
  • In conjunction with the customer base, alongside the Head of Talent Acquisition and Development align our performance management approach and talent development to both the People and Employee Engagement Strategies     
  • Accountable for the effective and efficient delivery of all HR processes, covering the full employee life cycle across Scope
  • Develop and deliver accurate and complete reporting on HR activities and people related issues.  Providing data analysis and insight to drive impact and outcomes. Ensure IT systems fully support requirements
  • Deliver effective performance of HR controls; defining KPI’s and core reporting which includes the HR budget and all HR related costs and expenses and ensuring legal compliance

Person Specification

Knowledge and experience

Essential

  • Knowledge of latest HR thinking and evidence as to how this is kept up to date
  • Experience of a significant range of HR disciplines (such as Employee Relations, Reward, Organisation Design)
  • Experience of supporting managers through change and an understanding of change management approaches
  • Experience of leading a high performing team, and the tools and processes needed to support team development.
  • Experience of developing and implementing HR strategy.
  • Experience of managing and delivering projects from inception through to evaluation
  • Significant experience of influencing, winning hearts and minds, to ensure effective business solutions and resolve conflict where necessary

 

Qualifications (if applicable)

  • MCIPD, or qualified by experience

  • Demonstrates a leadership perspective with a proven track record working across boundaries
  • Ability to write in an engaging style, translating information appropriately for a wide range of audiences
  • Positive can-do attitude with ability to juggle multiple competing priorities in a professional way

  • Experience of working with on-line HR systems, ideally including iTrent and leading payroll teams.
