Job description

Our new Head of Inclusion will ensure that equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) is at the heart of everything we do.

Main responsibilities

  • Develop a co-produced EDI strategy
  • Lead our EDI programme of work across the organisation
  • Listen to and work with internal and external stakeholders
  • Build, develop and lead a team who will transform our understanding of inclusion and accessibility
  • Ensure that our training plan helps us to lead the field in EDI
  • Provide expert advice and authoritative guidance to all colleagues
  • Enhance our reputation as an employer of choice for disabled people
  • Advocate, influence and shape an inclusive workplace for all
  • Support all colleagues to ensure everything we produce is accessible
  • Develop EDI training and coaching, including consultancy on behalf of Scope
  • Review stakeholders’ feedback to maintain and improve excellent levels of customer service
  • Support our colleague network groups to achieve their goals
  • Promote best practice and sustainable change in our Retail, Services and Corporate teams
  • Report to senior leadership on the impact of Equality, Diversity, Inclusion
  • Provide EDI leadership to the People team
  • Provide guidance and support on equality legislation and HR policy and practice

Person Specification

Knowledge and experience

Essential

  • Experience of co-producing a strategy
  • Demonstrable understanding of the barriers and impact experienced by underrepresented groups.
  • Knowledge of EDI legislation and confidence in training others
  • Recent experience of developing a team, including subject matter experts and supporting roles
  • Ability to inspire an agile team approach
  • Recent experience of delivering EDI best practice
  • Experience of working with external groups and organisations
  • Experience of running projects from start to finish, including evaluation and retrospectives
  • Understanding of the benefits that adjustments bring
  • Very well organised, able to prioritise and plan work to meet deadlines
  • Applied knowledge of the social model of disability

  • Ability to write for a variety of audiences
  • Ability to analyse and interpret data to report on findings and make recommendations
  • Ability to speak to diverse audiences and backgrounds
  • Engaging trainer and facilitator
  • Ability to write accessible EDI training content
  • Experience of drafting briefing papers and comms for senior leadership
  • Ability to prioritise and flex approach when required to deliver objectives
  • Evidence of creative thinking, using a test and learn approach
