Job description
Role purpose:
To be a Disability Gamechanger
- Provide current and effective organisational HR advice to colleagues and managers at all levels of Scope. Providing options to assist colleagues and managers in achieving the best outcome for Scope when dealing with ER issues, ensuring that the advice given and the decisions taken are guided by our policies and aligned to the culture we aspire to
- Lead Scope’s reward and recognition approach, managing the job evaluation process and project manage HR projects as appropriate.
- Work proactively with line managers to deal effectively with all ER related activity, coaching managers through the process and supporting them whilst leaving the management responsibility with them
- Develop managers to be confident in undertaking early stages of formal procedures, ensuring supporting documentation is up to date and accessible
- Positively support and champion change across the organisation
- Use key performance indicators to deliver recommendations for improvement
Main responsibilities
- Develop the capacity of line managers to manage a range of ER problems locally, developing management styles to foster positive working relationships with employees, minimising the occurrence of line management problems and issues and fostering a positive climate for ER activity
- Coach and develop managers to be competent and consistent in their execution of policies and procedures encouraging problems to be dealt with informally and as soon as possible
- Coach and develop line managers in supporting disabled employees effectively, being clear they understand the requirements, appropriate reasonable adjustments and on-going support/review in line with the inclusivity lead.
- Lead on HR projects, such as the review of Occupational Health provision, the review of employee representation.
- Lead on Reward and recognition programmes, delivering fair, consistent and innovative solutions.
- Lead on developing and updating all HR policies and ensuring these are in line with the current legislation
- Lead on complex ER casework, including representation at Tribunal with the support of the ER Manager and managing medium and high-risk ER cases to resolution
- Proactively manage and support the company in relation to all elements of TUPE, Acquisitions, Redundancy (where applicable), and ensuring all relevant processes are followed and compliance is met
- Work collaboratively with the People Team within the designated contract areas on a range of people and organisational matters, and work flexibly across the regions as required supporting colleagues on projects and work activity
- Preparation and presentation of monthly reports on volumes, trends. Identifying opportunities, and putting forward recommendations, for continuous improvement eg to existing policies, processes, procedures and line manager training
- Identifying skills/knowledge gaps and support in the delivery of interventions, such as workshops and coaching
- Dealing with any other ad hoc duties.

Person Specification
Knowledge and experience
Essential
- Minimum level 7 CIPD or equivalent qualification (experience may count)
- Generalist HR experience across a range of areas, covering for example employee relations, Reward, colleague engagement
- Comprehensive understanding of employment law and the employment tribunal process.
- Commercial approach to providing solutions to people issues.
- Highly effective communication and negotiation skills, with confidence to back own options
- Competent IT skills including using HRIT systems and the ability to handle and analyse HR data.
Desirable
- You are disabled or have lived experience of disability.
- Experience of project management
- Experience of designing and delivering training to disabled people and making training accessible.
