We are looking to recruit a team leader for our new Parents Connect service.

About the service

A new and exciting service launching in London, Parents Connect is aimed at parents or carers of disabled children at or around the point of diagnosis. It provides a useful, natural and flexible way to meet other parents in a similar situation, obtain useful information and develop friendships and support networks that endure as their child grows up.

Parents Connect aims to reduce the social isolation many parents of disabled parents tell us they feel, improving parents' ability to manage and navigate periods of high stress and thereby improving the experiences of disabled children. It is a regional product with provision embedded in the community.

About you

The Team Leader will be responsible for line managing the Course Facilitator and for quality assurance of the service. You will also have responsibility for developing the service delivery manual, including the training modules and defined learning outcomes to ensure it is fit for purpose for the locality in which the service is based.

This post will be required to work flexible hours over six days dependent on identified local need to deliver parenting classes and provide adequate support for the Course Facilitator.

You will bring drive and enthusiasm to your role and be able to demonstrate that you care passionately about improving disabled people's lives.

Skills and experience

  • Line management and supervision
  • At least four years experience of facilitating community groups or equivalent
  • Lived experience of disability or professional experience of supporting parents or carers of disabled children
  • Customer service skills
  • Digitally confident
  • Agreement with "Social model of disability" approach
  • Experience of delivering training (desirable)

As this service will have extended opening hours (9am to 9pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 12pm on a Saturday) a degree of flexibility is required to support your team within these hours.
