Reports to: Divisional manager

Salary: £38,000 per year

Role purpose

To raise money to support Scope’s work by:

  • Setting up and effectively managing an Online sales division
  • Meeting budgeted sales targets and taking full responsibility for the efficient and profitable running of the online sales division
  • Maintaining agreed level of seller ratings and positive feedback scores
  • Managing a team of paid staff and volunteers
  • Actively promoting Scope whenever possible

Main responsibilities

Leadership

  • Spot trends and opportunities to promote Scope, the online sales operation and stock donations in the local community.
  • Be an excellent role model and create a positive environment so that all colleagues working within the online sales department feel motivated and valued.
  • To support Scopes volunteers to be able to make a valuable contribution to the work of Scope.
  • Join SLT and divisional meetings, retail events and training as required
  • Ensure daily tasks are carried out in line with the Scope policies and procedures

Online trading

  • Achieve profit targets by maximising sales through on line listing
  • Responsible for all aspects of the smooth day to day running of the online sales division
  • Ensure high quality listings are achieved by monitoring listings and creating and providing training where necessary
  • Responsible for the security of all online stock including items to be researched, listed items and sold items awaiting dispatch
  • Responsible for the efficient and timely dispatch of all sold items.
  • Negotiating with national carriers to ensure low cost distribution.
  • Ensure stocks of donated goods are maintained through working closely with the divisional and area managers to ensure adequate volume of stock
  • Work with Digital and marketing to raise awareness and increase online sales through an enhanced presence on Scope website, relevant social media channels and through identifying any PR opportunities.
  • Liaise regularly with the Retail operations director and Divisional managers to review sales results, give feedback and share ideas to improve sales efficiency
  • Keep up to date and ensure that the Online sales division comply with Ebay’s and other company’s policies on items which cannot be sold
  • Understand and be proactive in realising sales opportunities on different on line sales platforms
  • Ensure that accurate administration, records and sales reports relating to online sales are maintained and communicated to the relevant department’s/people
  • Ensure gift aid procedures are adhered to in order to maximise gift aid reclaim
  • Recruit and train On line sales listers and On line customer sales assistants to enable them to carry out their roles
  • Responsible for volunteer recruitment, development and inclusion within the online sales division.
  • Keep the online sales working environment safe, clean and welcoming to colleagues, volunteers and visitors
  • Provide and maintain a safe, clean and welcoming environment that protects all colleagues, volunteers and visitors and complies with all health and safety regulations as per Scope’s policies and procedures
  • Comply with Scope’s policies and procedures
  • Complete all relevant administration on time and in accordance to Scope’s policies and procedures

Person Specification

Knowledge and experience

Essential

  • Experience of working in a similar role as an Online sales manager.
  • Experience of using online marketplaces including Ebay and Amazon.
  • Able to apply commercial acumen to drive sales.
  • Experience of delivering revenue against set KPI’s.
  • Experience and knowledge of online selling practices.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Possess a can do attitude.
  • Ability to take responsibility for your own and the teams development and learning.
  • Able to lead the team creating and maintaining a positive and enthusiastic team.
  • Able to plan, prioritise and organise, daily tasks.
  • Able to initiate, develop and accept new ideas to generate income within a short time frame.
  • After training, has a basic knowledge of Health & Safety and Fire regulations to identify potential risks.
  • Understands and supports Scope’s social model of disability, what Scope does and Retail’s contribution to Scope.
