Role purpose

As special events executive, you will work as part of the events and community fundraising team delivering and supporting on a range of products across the special event portfolio. You will be responsible for managing and growing projects, ensuring net income targets are achieved. You will also collaborate closely with the corporate partnerships and philanthropy teams to deliver a programme of events that meet their cultivation and fundraising objectives.

Main responsibilities and accountabilities

Management and supervision

  • Supervision of event volunteers ad hoc at events
  • potential for management of a special events office volunteer

Planning and budget management

  • Contribute to the development of the Special Event team strategy
  • Develop plans for the projects you are responsible for and assist on building the annual budgets for review by the Special Events Manager
  • Complete monthly budget monitoring, reporting on variances to budget and year-end reforecasts
  • Continually innovate to progress and improve the projects that you manage 
  • Responsible for income and expenditure budgets as determined by the annual events portfolio

Event management

  • Plan, deliver, report and evaluate the events you are responsible for, maximising net income, ROI and ensuring future growth
  • Support on Scope’s flagship fundraising annual gala – Disability Gamechangers Evening – taking ownership on specific areas of the gala dinner
  • Build relationships and work collaboratively across teams to ensure overall success of projects
  • Represent Scope’s brand at events and ensure an excellent supporter experience at events 
  • Identify potential event partnership opportunities for consideration with the Events Manager
  • Work with the Marketing Account Executive and Digital Engagement Team to produce multi-channel marketing plans to promote events
  • Ensure that there is regular reporting and evaluation against events and targets working with the Special Events manager to implement contingency activity when necessary
  • Contribute to team plans and development in improving efficiencies across all areas of work e.g. delivering mass comms
  • Keeping accurate records on the fundraising database and other event management systems including all guest data and financial data
  • Work closely with Senior Development Executive on the creation and development of cultivation events

Supporter stewardship and innovation

  • Innovate and develop events, to enhance ways of working in agreement with the Special Events Manager
  • Utilise digital opportunities to optimise growth and effectiveness across all areas of events delivery including product development, stewardship and marketing
  • Monitor the external market to ensure Scope remains competitive and on trend with its events offering
  • Develop and plan supporter journeys that deliver excellent stewardship and build lifetime support for Scope
  • Work with the Events and Community team to create compelling content for stewardship and marketing comms

Internal collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with the Corporate Partnerships and Philanthropy teams to plan, deliver and evaluate a programme of cultivation events that meets strategic objectives
  • Work with other teams across Scope to achieve Events and Community’s strategic objectives and deliverables, including marketing and digital 

External partnerships

  • Lead and manage relationships with key external partners such as event venues and sponsors
  • Manage high net-worth individuals including volunteers and committees
  • Secure and manage individuals and organisations related to beneficiary events as and when these come about
