Magical Moment

One giant leap for disabled people

The countdown is on to greater equality, with the European Space Agency announcing that it wants to hire the first ever disabled astronaut.

In the latest recruitment drive, people with a limb impairment or restricted growth – conditions that have previously been a barrier – are encouraged to apply.

The European Space Agency made it clear they’re not looking for a “space tourist” who happens to be disabled. The “para-astronaut” will be doing a meaningful space mission.

Like you, Scope believes disabled people should be included everywhere. And outer space is no exception.
