Scope responds to Health Select Committee report

The Commons Health Select Committee has released a report that warns adult social care underfunding is increasing the strain on A and E

Mark Atkinson, Chief Executive at disability charity Scope said:

"The social care system is on its knees.

Social care is the support disabled people rely on to get up, get dressed, get out, and lead independent lives.

Without that support disabled people can become isolated, can’t contribute to society, and risk slipping into crisis and ending up in A and E.

We’ve had repeated warnings from MPs and doctors that the crumbling care system is increasing pressure on the NHS.

The funding crisis in care urgently needs to be addressed in the Chancellor's Autumn statement."
