At the start, you may feel you have endless appointments and meetings. It’s easy to lose track of where you should be!

  • Update your calendar regularly.
  • Store a list of professionals and their contact details in your diary, on your phone or computer.
  • Make sure you have that list with you whenever you go to a meeting.

Plan ahead

Meetings can be stressful for everyone. Think about the timing – does this fit in with your other commitments?

  • Be clear why you are going and what the meeting is for.
  • Ask for another time if it’s not convenient.
  • Make a list of questions you want to ask before you go.
  • Try to see the same professionals so you don’t have to keep repeating your story.
  • Take a friend or family member with you if possible.
  • How you are going to get to the meeting? Do you need transport? Do you need change for parking?
  • Take a toy or comforter to entertain your child.
  • Take drinks and snacks, as refreshments may be expensive.
