This service is now closed.
Hampton House, a residential care home for 27 disabled people, is now closed. Following consultation with the people who lived there, their relatives, staff and funding authorities the decision was made to close the service on 7 October 2015.
In September 2013 we reviewed all our residential care homes and our Board of Trustees made a proposal to close Hampton House. We want to raise expectations when it comes to disability and we want everything we do to reflect our ambitions. The way social care works has changed and disabled people's aspirations have changed since this care home was opened. We want to support disabled people to be able to make a choice about where they live, how they live and who they live with, much like everybody else does.
We supported everyone who lived there to move to a new home before the service closed. Staff supported each person to think about what was important to them and how they would like to be supported in future. Each person has moved to a variety of different kinds of support and housing; some to supported living, others to smaller care homes and some to larger care homes with better facilities. Staff did a fantastic job and planned a smooth transition for each person. We really appreciate how hard our staff worked at what was a difficult time and their commitment to supporting the residents and their families as they moved to their new homes.
